According to the MIT, nuclear energy is the basis of the Czech energy mix

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has published a text stating that nuclear energy is the basis of the energy mix. It expects its share of total energy production to increase gradually.

“The approved update of the concept includes plans for the construction of a new nuclear power plant at Dukovany, other nuclear power plants at the Dukovany and Temelín sites, and the inclusion of small and medium-sized modular reactors in the Czech Republic’s energy mix. These reactors could, for example, replace decommissioned coal-fired thermal power plants and play an important role in industrial applications.

With the approval of the Ministry, CEZ Group has launched a tender for the construction of a new nuclear power plant at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant with a planned commissioning in 2036. Other nuclear sources at the Dukovany and Temelín sites are in the process of preparation and evaluation. The aim is to achieve a roughly 50% share of nuclear power in electricity generation by 2050 and to expand the use of nuclear heat for other cities.”
